Q. What type of motorcycle can I use on this ride?
This is an Adventure Bike Ride. That said almost any street legal bike could complete this ride, depending on the rider's ability. Last year's ride had everything from a Honda Goldwing to a 125cc Suzuki! But be prepared to get your bike at a minimum dusty and at a maximum muddy.
Q. How much of this ride is paved roadway and how much is gravel road?
The ride route is being developed at this time. Roughly 90% of both Saturday and Sunday to be gravel / dirt roads.
Q. What time does the ride start and end?
The rides will begin at 10:00 each day. That said you can leave anytime you chose and return anytime you choose, but you will be on your own as far as support and safety personnel.
Q. What about the Covid situation?
We will hope that the Covid situation will be behind us by the time we have the ride. That said Canton being a rural community lends itself to being a low- risk area even during the height of the outbreaks.
We will follow the guidelines that are put in place to assure that everyone is safe.
Q. Can I pre-register for this event?
Yes you can. Although it is not required, we encourage you to pre-register. On-site registration will be available the night before and day of the event. Registration forms will be available through this website in the near future. (updated 3/31/2021)
Q. How much is the entry fee?
$30.00 for one day $45.00 for both days – Don’t think of this as an entry fee but as a donation to our local charities. And remember it also includes a free lunch provided by the Canton Lions Club.
Q. How can I pay the sign- up fee?
Cash or check made out to CANTON LIONS CLUB or use our online registration with Square.
Q. Can I bring a passenger?
You sure can. The registration fee is per bike!
Q. What if it rains or snows?
THIS IS A WEATHERPROOF EVENT.
Q. How is the ride route marked?
This will be a GPS based routing. The GPS route upload will be available as soon as we finalize the routes. If you do not have a GPS we will have an old school route map for you to follow.
Q. Is this a “guided” ride?
Yes and No. We will have guide riders seeded into the ride with a lead rider and at least 2 others mid pack and a sweep rider in the event anyone needs assistance.
Q. What type of support can I expect should I need help along the ride?
The ride route will be supported with the local fire departments from the area. In addition, a “sag wagon” will be following the ride with a trailer to transport breakdowns etc. Also we will have a maintenance shop available for some repairs, flat tires etc.
Q. Is there a hotel in town or close by?
Canton is a rural community. That said rooms are at a premium. But we have a local Bar / restaurant that has 7 rooms. We have secured all 7 rooms for both Friday night the 24th and Saturday the 25th. You can contact them at The Park Hotel and Brewing Company 570-673-8777 and use the code Adventure Bike to book a room.
Q. What about camping?
We have plenty of camping room available – Dry camping is available at the local fireman’s field and we also have a local campground with full hookups available, all within 1 mile of the starting area for the ride.
Q. Where is the lunch stop?
The lunch stop will be at one of the many vistas along the route. The Shunk Fire Department is serving lunch for all riders on Saturday. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. is sponsoring our lunch. The Canton Lions Club is providing lunch for all riders on Sunday.
