The Canton Lions Clubs 5th annual “Fall Tour Of The Mountains” Adventure Bike Ride was an epic weekend! We had the nicest weather weekend here in north central Pennsylvania that we have had all year - clear skies and 75 degrees.
We had 87 registered riders - Saturday's routes were 91 miles in the morning through the rural roads of northern Bradford and Tioga Counties ending up at ride HQ with our famous lunch prepared by the Canton Lions Club Members. The Saturday afternoon ride was 55 miles, ending back at our ride HQ where dinner and refreshments were served. At 7:00 pm we were entertained by the Motorcycle Skills Events which include a slow bike race and a plank ride. The slow bike race was won by Lockhaven's Nick Mantzoros and the plank ride was won in a ride off by Canton's Jordan Andrus.
Campfires, pit bike racing, and story telling at the Campgrounds in back of ride HQ ran late into the evening, with some folks opting for late night refreshments at Jimmy's Park Hotel and Brewing Company a short walk down the street.
Sundays Self-Guided ride of 102 miles took riders south thru the forest and back roads of Lycoming and Sullivan Counties.
This year's ride was to benefit the Trout Run Volunteer Fire Co. in Trout Run, Pennsylvania. This organization lost their firehouse in the devastating August flood that tore through their town. $3,500 was raised from the ride.
